Once booked, a detailed email was sent with all needed information plus some. Upon arrival, clear instruction was given and got to explore the cute gift shop while waiting to load buses to head to beach for take off. All staff I encountered were kind and helpful. The guide was nice, funny and even took some pictures and shared with those who asked for them.
Overall a fun experience!
We went into the office on Thursday to reserve the 8 hour kayak/hike tour for the very next day. The 8 hour is rarely booked and they called in a guide for us. Customer service from start to finish on Thursday and Friday were Excellent! Everyone was wonderful, our guide Triton was awesome and made the experience so special, the van driver who picked us up after the hike was friendly and informative and full of great stories. I have recommended this company and their 8 hour tour to everyone I know and would never use anybody else to see Pictured Rocks!
Excellent experience! We did the 6 hr kayak tour and it was fun, informative, relaxing and great to see such a beautiful natural treasure. We had to make modifications to our reservation prior to the event and the Paddling Michigan staff was easy to work with, responsive and gave us confirmation right away. The bus driver to the beach was friendly and shared lots of good information tidbits that made the experience all the better. Our tour guide, Jimmy was a hoot; he was funny, relaxed, and shared lots of good information throughout the 6 hr tour. Now for what I would improve; the lunch thing on this tour is confusing and could use some better clarification. Some tours lunch is included, some (like the one I was in) there time allocated for lunch on the beach but you have to bring your own lunch and I heard it both ways until I checked in. It was fine, I just bought one of their packed lunches which was quite good but for the price, I'd say the packed lunch should be included. The other thing is the life jacket, it smelled a bit, so I recommend dipping it into the lake once you get to the beach. Once I did that at the lunch break, things were better. The gear they provide is excellent.
We had a great trip and it was worth the money - 2 adults, 14 and 17. We all enjoyed it and would be back.
Our guide Carver was a pretty funny guy and made everyone welcome (I did not fall for the diaper trick)!!!!
We were in double kyacks and the lake was very calm. We had lots of time to enjoy our paddle, hang out by the painted rocks and get lots of pictures.
We saw the cliffs “sluff” some rocks a few times and they make quite a noise when they hit the water. It was cool to see it so many times.
We all felt safe and we enjoyed ourselves. The paddle was just long enough not to bore our kids or for them to get too tired to paddle. The group size we had (12) was perfect.

We had an incredible experience paddling pictured rocks! Well organized and our guide Keller went above and beyond to make sure we were all safe, learned about the history and was interested in knowing each of us. shuttles aren’t air conditioned and the roads to the drop off are rough so that’s something to be prepared for. I wanted to chop my arms off from overuse pain that evening but it was worth it to see the incredible beauty of this natural landscape. Thanks very much for an excellent tour. It took us 11 hours with road, bridge construction from southwestern Ontario but 8 hours back. We picked up sandwiches at the Driftwood deli, to bring with us, which we are still craving.
We had a fantastic time staying at the AuTrain beach campground in a yurt. The all inclusive 3 day package was a perfect way to see what pictured rocks has to offer. The yurt beds were so uncomfortable lol but a mattress pad would be helpful next time. We loved how the package was put together and really enjoyed every part Our kayak instructor was great, the cruise was fun and we learned alot and the canoeing down AuTrain River was a perfect way to end. The food options were great and the waitresses were very friendly at duck pond. I think it was a great deal!
It was really awesome, but if you really want to see the cool rock formations, you'll want to go for the 6 hour tour or get a different outfitter that goes further along the coast. The guides were very knowledgeable and made the tour very fun!
It was beautiful and the guide was helpful which I am grateful for. It was a little expensive for the 6 & 7 year old to ride along in our kayak. ($111 each for the kids on top of the $119 for each adult)
